Packers rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs created some buzz for himself in the preseason, and put a quiet first two quarters behind him to emerge for Green Bay in the second half of its season-opening loss to Minnesota. He’ll look to build off that performance in Week 2 when Green Bay hosts the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. Should you consider Green Bay’s rookie for your Bears vs. Packers NFL DFS lineups on Sunday Night Football? Packers No. 1 receiver Allen Lazard (ankle) wasn’t available against the Vikings, but he’s expected to make his season debut against Chicago.
Is Lazard, who hauled in eight touchdown receptions last season, a better option for your NFL DFS lineups? In six career games against the Bears, Lazard has just 17 receptions for 156 yards and three TDs. Top NFL DFS picks for Packers vs. Bears
One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Sunday Night Football is Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Making a judgment on Fields in his second season after last week wouldn’t exactly be reasonable considering the wet, sloppy conditions the game was played in. However, he was still able to throw a pair of touchdowns even though he completed just 8-of-17 passes in the game.
Fields’ most impressive play came in the third quarter, when he scrambled deep and to his left behind the line of scrimmage, only to throw across the field to Dante Pettis in a play that resulted in a 51-yard touchdown. Much of Fields’ perceived Fantasy value is attached to his ability as a runner, which bodes well since the Packers gave up 126 rushing yards in Week 1. Last season, Fields finished with 117 yards on 15 carries against Green Bay.
Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Packers running back Aaron Jones. Jones finished with half as many carries (5) and two fewer receptions than his partner in the backfield, AJ Dillon. However, he finished with more rushing yards and had a 10% higher snap rate (60.7%). In two games against Chicago last season, Jones had 111 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
Without a true No. 1 receiver, both backs should continue to see usage in Green Bay’s passing game. Against Chicago last season, Jones finished with 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns. With Jones, the conversation is more about quality over quantity, and he averaged 6.17 yards per carry and 9.14 yards per reception against Chicago in 2021.
