Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 7 picks: Top players to add include Tyquan Thornton, Wan’Dale Robinson

Unless you’re extremely fortunate and duck a season’s worth of NFL injuries, working the Fantasy football waiver wire to improve your roster over the course of the season is an absolute necessity in season-long Fantasy football. Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has built off an impressive rookie season with three 100-yard games already but he’s also battled through injury and had two contests where he failed to crack 40 yards. Now Waddle will have a shoulder injury to deal with and his owners would be wise to stock up on receiver depth before they make any permanent decisions for their Week 7 Fantasy football lineups.

Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis had four catches for 84 yards and a score in Week 6 and is available in 99% of CBS Sports Fantasy football leagues. But can you trust any receiving options in a struggling Bears offense or should you be looking elsewhere in the Week 7 Fantasy football waiver wire pool? Before determining who to target on the Week 7 Fantasy football waiver wire, be sure to see what SportsLine Fantasy football analyst Jacob Gibbs has to say.

Gibbs uses a data-driven approach that has helped him consistently provide accurate rankings at every position. He has proven to be one of the nation’s most accurate Fantasy rankers in recent years — posting the eighth-most accurate results over the past three seasons, according to Fantasy Pros.

Now, he’s revealed his top waiver wire pick from among the widely available Fantasy football free agents entering Week 7. You can see his top Fantasy NFL waiver wire picks and full analysis over at SportsLine

Top Fantasy football waiver wire picks for Week 7

One player Gibbs is advising Fantasy players to target on the Week 7 waiver wire: Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. A big-play threat at Baylor who averaged 15.7 yards per reception during his collegiate career, Thornton ran a 4.28-second 40-yard-dash at the NFL Scouting Combine to climb NFL draft boards and the Patriots selected him 50th overall. However, he had to be placed on injured reserve after suffering a broken clavicle during the preseason and didn’t make his debut until Week 5 against the Lions.

Thornton only had two catches for seven yards in that game but he did play in 42% of the team’s snaps and then followed that up by playing 57% of the snaps against the Browns last week. Thornton had four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown while also carrying the ball three times for 16 yards and a score. He’s available in 96% of CBS Sports Fantasy football leagues and has significant upside going forward in an offense that is learning its identity.

Gibbs is also strongly recommending Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson as a Week 7 waiver wire pickup. Robinson spent two years at Nebraska where he was used as a hybrid running back/wide receiver and then transferred to Kentucky, who used him in a more traditional wide receiver role. He caught 104 passes for 1,334 yards and seven scores with the Wildcats and finished his collegiate career with 2,939 scrimmage yards and 14 scores in three seasons.

The Giants made him the 43rd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and it appeared during the preseason that he was in line for a major role in the offense. However, Robinson suffered a knee injury in Week 1 that only allowed for him to play in nine snaps and then he didn’t play for the next four weeks. When he returned last week, Robinson played in 15 snaps but was targeted four times and caught three passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Now he’s available in 88% of CBS Sports Fantasy football leagues.
