A Johnson County judge has set a preliminary hearing for Jackson Mahomes, according to a report from KMBC. Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery in May.
On Tuesday, Jackson Mahomes appeared before the judge on Tuesday, and the judge set a preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2024. Mahomes was also reminded that he cannot contact the victim or any witnesses in the case.
Back in May, Mahomes was arrested on charges stemming from an incident at a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. The younger Mahomes brother allegedly grabbed the owner, Aspen Vaughn, by the neck and forcibly kissed her. Videos of the incident went viral online.
“I was in shock,” Vaughn told The Kansas City Star. “Like you’re a child and he was trying to say, ‘We should be a power couple, and I’m like, ‘Clearly you’re out of your mind right now.'”
In March, Mahomes’ attorney released a statement on the original accusations, denying the victim’s account of the events.
“Jackson has done nothing wrong,” Davies said. “Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser including the statements of several witnesses. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”
