The 2023-24 NBA season has arrived and there are plenty of storylines to watch out for early in the action. How will James Harden’s relationship, or lack thereof, with the 76ers work out? What will Damian Lillard look like running alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee? These questions won’t be answered on Opening Night, but NBA fans will get the chance to see some of the best players in the league in action. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Steph Curry are among the top options in the NBA DFS player pool on Opening Night.
Booker (toe) will reportedly warm up and try and play but may miss the game with the injury, while Bradley Beal (back) is unlikely to play. So, those are injuries to monitor when building NBA DFS lineups on sites like FanDuel and DraftKings. Certainly, daily Fantasy basketball players can’t budget all of them into one NBA DFS lineup, but how should you structure your NBA DFS strategy for Opening Night? Before making your NBA DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

Top NBA DFS picks for Tuesday, October 24
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Opening Night is Nuggets center Jokic ($10,00 on DraftKings and $11,500 on FanDuel). The NBA Finals MVP had one of the most dominant postseasons of all time, averaging 30 points, 10 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game over the playoffs. The five-time All-Star and two-time MVP averaged 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game during the regular season last year as the Nuggets open the 2023-24 season against the Lakers.
Jokic has scored at least 25 points in five of his last seven games against the Lakers, averaging 25.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game over that span. He averaged 14.5 assists in the two games he didn’t reach 25 points, so regardless of the situation, Jokic is posting huge returns for NBA DFS lineups on a daily basis. He’s one of the few big men in the NBA where the offense runs through him, and he’s worthy of the hefty price tag when making NBA DFS picks.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes stacking Jokic with guard Jamal Murray ($7,500 on DraftKings, $8,800 on FanDuel). Murray elevated his output in the postseason, averaging 26.1 points and 7.1 assists per game in the playoffs compared to 20 points and 6.2 assists during the regular season.
Murray played 65 games last season after missing the entire previous year following a torn ACL. With the Nuggets having their championship banner risen to the rafters on Tuesday, expect Denver to come out playing fast and wanting to put together a huge offensive performance for its home fans on a special evening. Murray controls that pace at the point, and now that he’s completely healthy, Murray will look to build on his playoff success starting on Opening Night.
