The lottery for the 2024 NBA Draft will be held Sunday afternoon, at which point some franchise — perhaps the Pistons or Wizards or Hornets or Blazers — will be awarded the No. 1 overall pick. In a different year, regardless of who might win the lottery, it would already be easy to identify the player that’ll be selected first.

But not this year. Things are very much TBD.

At this point, my assumption is that Alex Sarr, the 19 year-old big from France, will be the first player picked next month, making that two straight years that a prospect from France would have been selected No. 1 overall. But the truth is that the first pick could be any number of prospects — among them Reed Sheppard, Stephon Castle, Zacharie Risacher, Donovan Clingan and Rob Dillingham. In this draft, basically any of those guys could go first or fifth. We might not have a great grasp for which direction things are going until minutes before NBA commissioner Adam Silver makes the announcement.

This mock draft will update after the lottery order is set. For now, what’s below is a projected first round with the order set by lottery odds.
