Halfway through the 2024 regular season, let’s check in on all 30 teams

At this writing, each of Major League Baseball’s 30 squadrons is at or in close proximity to the 81-game mark of the 2024 regular season. In other words, we’ve reached the halfway point, and that provides a tidy occasion for progress reports. We are here to do just that, all while outfitted in fetching headmaster’s garb – academic mortar board cap, flowing robes of austere hue, stoles and sashes embroidered with the relevant coat of arms. Yes, it’s time to deliver report cards to all 30 teams based on their 2024 work to date.
For those getting high marks, the directive is simple – keep it going. For those in danger of failing, there’s still time to improve and thus avoid the burdens of remedial coursework. Premise laid out and metaphors fully tortured, we shall now assign grades to each club for the first half of the 2024 season. Let us proceed in taut and suspenseful alphabetical order.
