What to Know

The Toronto Raptors haven’t won a matchup against the Boston Celtics since Sept. 9 of last year, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Friday. Toronto and Boston will face off in an Atlantic Division battle at 7:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden. If the game is anything like the Celtics’ 132-125 win from their previous meeting in March, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

The contest between the Raptors and the Washington Wizards on Wednesday was not a total blowout, but with Toronto falling 98-83 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. Toronto was down 81-59 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Scottie Barnes wasn’t much of a difference maker for Toronto; Barnes picked up five fouls and turned the ball over six times en route to a 12-point finish.

Meanwhile, Boston fought the good fight in their overtime game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 138-134. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Celtics, who fell 96-92 when the teams previously met in May. Boston’s defeat came about despite a quality game from Jaylen Brown, who shot 8-for-14 from beyond the arc and finished with 46 points, six assists and nine boards.

With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the victory. We’ll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
