College basketball coaching carousel: Tracker for 2019-20 coaching searches, changes, hirings, firings

College basketball’s postseason was cut short by a wave of conference tournament cancellations and the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament. But the coaching carousel is not taking a break. Several schools are already on the hunt for new coaches, including one program that has been among the most successful in the mid-major ranks over the last decade.

Iona announced Friday that Tim Cluess is stepping down as coach and transitioning to an advisory role to “focus on making a full recovery from his recent health concerns.”

Cluess spent the 2019-20 season away from the court after leading Iona to six NCAA Tournament appearances in his first nine seasons.

“We’re extremely proud of Tim Cluess and how he represented our program over the last ten years,” Iona athletic director Matthew Glovaski said in a statement. “He elevated Iona men’s basketball and put us into the national spotlight on an annual basis. I want to recognize coach’s resilience in dealing with a complicated health situation that kept him off the court this last season. We will continue to support Tim and his family as he manages his health matter and are very happy he will continue to contribute in an advisory role and remain an important part of the Iona family.”
