College football rankings, grades: Alabama, Oklahoma earn ‘A+’, Iowa gets ‘D-‘ in Week 7 report card

A look at how the national championship contenders fared in Week 7

Week 7 in college football was a wild one for some of the national title contenders. For others, it was a little less stressful, and some even enjoyed the action from their couch. As we reach the halfway point of the season, the College Football Playoff picture is coming slightly more into focus. 

Let’s start with the obvious. No. 2 Iowa suffered the most stunning loss of the week against Purdue at home — one week after topping Penn State. No. 1 Georgia and No. 5 Alabama cruised to easy wins, while No. 3 Cincinnati told the world that the target on its back isn’t going to slow it down from making a playoff push. 

Now the we’ve tied a bow on everything, it’s time to hand out some grades in our weekly report card.
