FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — CeeDee Lamb called game. After the Cowboys‘ offense was able to take possession following a Patriots punt to begin overtime, Dak Prescott dropped back on a first-and-10 attempt from the New England 35-yard line and connected with the second-year receiver for the game-winning touchdown, moving Dallas to 5-1 on the season.

“It was an unbelievable feeling,” Lamb said after the game. “I was expecting somebody to come up behind me, I turned around to my left and he was like three steps behind me. I was really surprised and then I just walked in.”

Almost immediately out of his break, Lamb put his arm in the air to signal to Prescott that he had real estate to run in front of him. The quarterback was quick to fire a strike as he rolled right and Lamb was essentially untouched as he was a step ahead of his nearest defender in Patriots corner Jalen Mills

While that touchdown catch was naturally a highlight for Lamb, he also made a clutch 24-yard reception on a third-and-25 attempt for Dallas that set up a game-tying 49-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein to help force overtime. Once they got into the extra period, Prescott leaned on Lamb. Along with the clinching score, the two connected on two passes prior to the game-winner for 21 yards.

“It was kind of a mutual understanding,” Lamb said when asked of the confidence that Prescott had in him on the crucial drive. “The preparation the coaches have given us week in and week out just preparing us for moments like this. The team understood the situation and the assignment. We all came together, and our backs were against the wall. All we had were each other.”

Lamb finished his day with a career-high 149 yards receiving on nine catches to go along with two touchdowns.
