Thanks to Chris Taylor’s historic three-homer effort in Game 5, the Los Angeles Dodgers have forced a Game 6 in the best-of-seven NLCS. The Atlanta Braves still lead the series 3-2 and will punch their ticket to the World Series with their next win.

How to watch

Date: Saturday, Oct. 23 | Time: 5:08 p.m. ET
Location: Truist Park (Atlanta, Georgia)
TV channel: TBS | Live stream:
Odds: TBA
Starting pitchers: TBA vs. TBA

Neither the Braves nor the Dodgers have officially announced their Game 6 starter yet, though right-handers Max Scherzer (15-4, 2.46 ERA) and Ian Anderson (9-5, 3.58 ERA) started Game 2 and line up to start Game 6 with an extra day of rest. There’s no reason to think it will be anyone other than those two on the mound in Game 6.

Scherzer admitted his “arm was dead” in Game 2 following his relief appearance in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Giants. The extra day of rest came at a good time for the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer. He should feel as fresh as he’s going to get this late in the season Saturday. Anderson struggled in Game 2 and threw only three innings. The Braves will need more length in Game 6.

This year’s NLCS is following the same pattern as last year’s NLCS. Last year the Braves won Games 1 and 2, lost Game 3, won Game 4, then lost Game 5. They of course then lost Games 6 and 7. What happened last year has no bearing on this year, but I like the Dodgers with Scherzer on the mound, so this one’s going to Game 7.

Pick: Dodgers 6, Braves 2
