Top 2020 Fantasy baseball prospects to target

Cohen’s projections name Athletics starter Jesus Luzardo as the top Fantasy baseball pitching prospect. The 22-year-old is Oakland’s top prospect and a consensus top-15 prospect in all of baseball entering the 2020 season after posting a 2.53 ERA while striking out 234 hitters over 195.2 innings in the minors.

That track record of dominance earned him a September call-up in Oakland, where he appeared out of the bullpen and posted a 1.50 ERA over 12 innings with 16 strikeouts and two saves. Luzardo is expected to be in the starting rotation this season and looked sharp in spring training before the coronavirus pandemic brought games to a screeching halt, giving up just one run in 8.1 innings over three starts with 13 strikeouts.

“Luzardo is one of the pitchers that may benefit from a shortened season. In the past, he has struggled to stay healthy. Most recently in 2019, he suffered a shoulder strain,” Cohen told SportsLine. “Previously, Oakland would likely have limited his workload this season, but now with a shorter 2020 season, Luzardo could last all year long.”
