Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 3 picks: Top players to add include Cordarrelle Patterson, Rondale Moore

Some surprising players have popped up as significant Fantasy producers in the first two weeks of the Fantasy football season and are now firmly on the radar as free agent adds. Minnesota wide receiver K.J. Osborn caught a 64-yard TD pass against Arizona. He also had seven receptions in the Vikings‘ season opener. Derek Carr, meanwhile, has passed for 817 yards in his first two games, including 382 against the Steelers

Should Carr and Osborn be among your top Week 3 Fantasy football waiver wire picks? And which other players on Fantasy football waivers are worth grabbing to plug some early-season roster holes? Before determining who to target on the Week 3 Fantasy football waiver wire, be sure to see what SportsLine’s resident Hall of Famer, Scott Engel, has to say.

Engel is an inaugural member of the Fantasy Sports Writers Association’s Hall of Fame. He is a four-time FSWA Award Winner and 10-time nominee. In 2020, Scott was a finalist for the FSWA Fantasy Football Writer of the Year Award, which he also won previously.

In addition to being the Fantasy writer for the Seattle Seahawks‘ official site since 2012, Engel has appeared on The Athletic, SiriusXM FantasySports Radio, ESPN.com, NFL.com, the Associated Press, Yahoo Sports, SI.com, the New York Post, USA Today, RotoBaller, and of course, CBSSports.com.

Now, he’s revealed the best widely available Fantasy football free agents entering Week 3. You can see his top Fantasy NFL waiver wire picks and full analysis over at SportsLine

Top Fantasy football waiver wire picks for Week 3

One player Engel is advising Fantasy players to target on the Week 3 waiver wire: Atlanta running back Cordarrelle Patterson. Previously viewed as a journeyman wide receiver who was more of a standout on special teams, Patterson has moved into a unique new role with the Falcons that has led to newfound Fantasy appeal.

Atlanta is utilizing Patterson as a hybrid running back/wide receiver so far this season. He has received seven rushing attempts in each of the first two games, and had a TD run vs. Tampa Bay in Week 2. Patterson also tapped into his receiving background on Sunday, catching five passes for 58 yards and a score.

The Falcons may continue to find ways to use Patterson as a potential scorer, and with pickings being very slim right now at RB in Fantasy free agency, he certainly deserves strong waiver consideration. Patterson could also see more opportunities as a runner if injuries become an issue.

Engel is also strongly recommending Arizona receiver Rondale Moore. The rookie had seven catches in Week 2, finishing with 114 yards. His highlight of the day was a 77-yard TD reception. There should be additional highlights to come from Moore in the near future.

The Cardinals passing game looks like it may be one of the best in the league this season, and can support multiple Fantasy options. Moore gets a matchup with the highly-vulnerable Jaguars defense next.

How to set your Week 3 waiver wire claims

Engel is also all-in on a running back who should be an immediate add. This player is widely available and could be a huge boost to your Fantasy football lineup. You can only see who it is at SportsLine
