Who’s Playing

Memphis @ Utah

Current Records: Memphis 8-8; Utah 11-5

What to Know

The Memphis Grizzlies have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Utah Jazz and are hoping to record their first win since May 23rd. Memphis will hit the road for the second straight game as they head to Vivint Arena at 9 p.m. ET on Monday. Utah will be strutting in after a victory while the Grizz will be stumbling in from a loss.

The Grizzlies were pulverized by the Minnesota Timberwolves 138-95 this past Saturday. Memphis was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 72-43. The top scorer for Memphis was small forward Desmond Bane (21 points).

Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the matchup between Utah and the Sacramento Kings this past Saturday was still a pretty decisive one as the Jazz wrapped it up with a 123-105 victory on the road. It was another big night for Utah’s center Rudy Gobert, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gobert has had at least 11 rebounds.

The Grizzlies have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 11 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 3-0 against the spread when expected to lose.

The Grizz ended up a good deal behind the Jazz when they played when the two teams previously met in June, losing 126-110. The defeat knocked the Grizz out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Utah with a vengeful fire.
