After three games on the road, the Portland Trail Blazers are heading back home. They will square off against the Detroit Pistons at 10 p.m. ET Tuesday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. The Trail Blazers are out to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
Portland’s and the Utah Jazz’s contest on Monday was up for grabs at halftime, but Portland was thoroughly outmatched 76-58 in the second half. Portland found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 129-107 punch to the gut against Utah. One thing holding Portland back was the mediocre play of small forward Nassir Little, who did not have his best game: he played for 26 minutes but put up just seven points on 3-for-10 shooting.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Detroit had to settle for a 110-106 defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. A silver lining for the Pistons was the play of power forward Jerami Grant, who had 32 points along with six boards.
The Trail Blazers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 9.5-point margin of victory. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the team has let down bettors in their past three games.
Portland is now 10-11 while Detroit sits at 4-16. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Portland has allowed their opponents to shoot 47.70% from the floor on average, which is the second highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. Detroit has experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 40.60% percent of their shots, which is the lowest field goal percentage in the league. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
