Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins expected to return for Cardinals vs. Bears in Week 13, per report

The Cardinals are 9-2 atop the NFC despite missing arguably their top two players for the last month. Now, they’re finally set to get some reinforcements. Both quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins are expected to suit up for Arizona’s Week 13 road showdown with the Bears on Sunday, as NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports.

The two Pro Bowlers have missed three straight games but returned to practice this week and will officially return to the lineup barring a setback, Rapoport said. Murray has been resting from a high-ankle sprain suffered back in a Week 8 loss to the Packers. Several times since then he’s been deemed a game-time decision, only to sit for veteran backup Colt McCoy. Hopkins, meanwhile, has been nursing a hamstring injury and replaced by fellow wideouts A.J. Green, Christian Kirk and Rondale Moore.

The Cardinals are coming off their bye in Week 12, which means Murray and Hopkins each had roughly a month to recover. After this week’s game in Chicago, they take on the Rams in a huge NFC West matchup in Week 14 while vying to retain the top seed in the NFC. The Packers (9-3) and Buccaneers (8-3) are currently within striking distance of the No. 1 seed entering this weekend.

In the event Murray is unable to suit up on Sunday, McCoy would be slated to make a fourth straight start. He’s thrown three touchdowns and one interception since relieving Murray, who was once considered an MVP front-runner this year, going 2-1 during that stretch.
