Maxim Grishin out, Ovince Saint Preux back to heavyweight vs. Tanner Boser at UFC Vegas 30

One-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux will return to the heavyweight division after losing his originally scheduled opponent at UFC Vegas 30.

Saint Preux has agreed to take on heavyweight Tanner Boser after his originally scheduled opponent, Maxim Grishin, was forced to withdraw from the June 26 event, which takes place July 26 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Saint Preux vs. Boser is expected to serve as the co-headliner.

The reason for Grishin’s withdrawal is unknown at this time. Multiple people confirmed the news to MMA Fighting after an initial report from MMA Junkie.

Saint Preux most recently appeared in the octagon in his longtime light heavyweight division, losing by TKO to Jamahal Hill at UFC Vegas 16 this past December. He has bounced between wins and losses in his past five outings, including his lone trip to heavyweight, where he was outpointed by veteran Ben Rothwell at UFC Jacksonville in May 2020.

Boser, meanwhile, is in need of a win after back-to-back losses in his two most recent outings; he fell short on points to ex-champ Andrei Arlovski and Ilir Latifi, respectively.

UFC Vegas 30 is headlined by a heavyweight contest between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.
