MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for September 14, 2021

We’re deep into the final month of the season and MLB daily Fantasy players across the country are still seeking out the matchups they can best exploit on a daily basis. When Adrian Sampson was a Major League starter last in 2019, he had a 5.89 ERA with the Rangers and gave up 29 home runs in 125 1/3 innings. Now the Cubs have turned to Sampson to start on Tuesday despite a 4.96 ERA in Triple-A, and that should make the Phillies a popular option for MLB DFS stacks.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks will send Luke Weaver to the mound against a loaded Dodgers offense that has a career OPS against Weaver of 1.000. Cody Bellinger is 4-for-8 with two homers off Weaver, while Mookie Betts and Gavin Lux have also homered off the 28-year-old right hander. Before making your MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure had Astros third baseman Alex Bregman as one of his top MLB DFS picks. The result: Bregman went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, producing 28.7 points on FanDuel and 21 points on DraftKings. Those that put him in their lineup were well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Tuesday. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for September 14, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday is Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera at $2,500 on FanDuel and $4,900 on DraftKings. After showing some promise for the Phillies in his mid-20s, Herrera had some off-the-field issues that kept him from playing for most of 2019 and all of 2020. But he’s returned to Philadelphia’s lineup this season and been productive in spurts.

Herrera has 12 home runs with 46 RBIs and six stolen bases, while slashing .259/.314/.420 but he’s coming off a red-hot month of August where he had a 1.043 OPS. Herrera is a reverse-split who hits better and for more power against right-handed pitching, so he could be a major factor against the home-run prone Sampson on Tuesday night.

Also key to McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy is rostering Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge ($4,100 on FanDuel, $5,400 on DraftKings). Judge is having his most healthy season since winning Rookie of the Year honors by belting 52 home runs in 2017, and it comes as no surprise that he’s still one of the game’s biggest power threats when he can stay in the lineup.

Judge has played 130 games this season after missing 142 games the last three seasons and has 33 home runs with 82 RBIs in 2021. He’s slashing a solid .293/.378/.540 and leads the league in max exit velocity (119 mph), average exit velocity (95.9 mph) and hard-hit contact rate (58.1 percent). His career-low 25.4 percent strikeout rate means he’s making better use of that raw power.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for September 14, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Tuesday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
