MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for September 21, 2021

Winners of nine straight, the St. Louis Cardinals now find themselves in a great position to lock up the NL’s second Wild Card spot. A key to the team’s success has been its stars — Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt — playing like stars but also getting major contributions from outfielder Tyler O’Neill. He has a scorching 1.106 OPS during September and certainly rewarded those daily Fantasy baseball players who have rostered him in their MLB DFS lineups.

But O’Neill and the rest of the Cards will have a stern test in the form of pitcher Brandon Woodruff (9-9. 2.55) of the Brewers. Woodruff ranks fourth in the NL in ERA, so you will have to decide which Cardinals, if any, are worthy of being Tuesday’s MLB DFS picks. Should you go with the hot bats in St. Louis or look elsewhere in the MLB DFS player pool? Before submitting any MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure gave out Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Judge went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored, which returned 12 points on DraftKings and 15.7 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for September 21, 2021

Leading McClure’s picks on Tuesday is Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, who is listed at $4,100 on FanDuel and $6,400 on DraftKings. Betts’ 11-game hitting streak is the second-longest in the majors and he’s hit .372 during the streak. He also has five multi-hit games during this stretch as his batting average has jumped 11 points.

Betts has missed some time with injuries but is having another stellar all-around season. He has 21 home runs, 54 RBI and 10 stolen bases, while hitting .276 on the season. Betts has to be salivating at the Tuesday matchup against Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela as the former MVP has owned the righty. Betts is 5-for-11 (.455) in his career vs. Senzatela with two home runs and a double.

Another key in McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy is stacking Betts with infielder Trea Turner ($4,300 on FanDuel, $5,900 on DraftKings). Turner is also riding a streak as he has hits in his last seven games. The former National has five runs scored and four stolen bases over this stretch.

Turner is looking forward to the upcoming series against the Rockies as his success at Coors Field is unparalleled. Of the 16 ball parks he’s played at least 10 games in, Turner’s average is highest at Coors Field. He’s hitting .400 in the thin air of Denver and over half of his 20 hits have gone for extra bases. He’s also posted 17 RBI in 10 games at the ball park so he’s in line for a huge game on Tuesday.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for September 21, 2021
