MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for June 21, 2021

Cleveland Indians pitcher Aaron Civale might not have the eye-popping ERA of Mets ace Jacob deGrom or the strikeout total of teammate Shane Bieber. But all Civale does is win. The 26-year-old right-hander looks to extend his MLB-best wins total to 11 on Monday as part of an eight-game MLB DFS slate when the Indians take on Adbert Alzolay and the host Chicago Cubs.

Civale is priced at $8,500 on DraftKings and $8,000 on FanDuel, so incorporating him in your MLB DFS strategy will mean searching for value further down the salary sheet. Is Civale primed to deliver as one of your MLB DFS picks Monday, and what positional players should you consider? Before locking in any MLB DFS lineups for Monday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Sunday, McClure recommended Twins outfielder Byron Buxton as one of his top options on DraftKings. The result: Buxton doubled, homered, five in two runs and scored — putting up 21 points on DraftKings in the process. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for June 21, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Monday is Astros second baseman Jose Altuve at $5,500 on DraftKings and $4,400 on FanDuel. Altuve is hitting .296 with 16 home runs and 39 RBIs this season. That includes doubling home a run and scoring another Sunday against the White Sox.

Altuve was a doubling machine against the White Sox, as he racked up another two-bagger Saturday and scored two more runs against Chicago. Altuve is projected to swat 37 homers, drive in 89 runs and score 121 runs in 2021. Houston begins a series at lowly Baltimore on Monday, and Altuve is hitting 61 points higher against lefties like Orioles starter Keegan Akin (0-2, 5.76 ERA) this season.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy also includes stacking Altuve with outfielder Chas McCormick at $3,100 on DraftKings and $2,400 on FanDuel. McCormick is hitting .226 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs this season. McCormick went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday against the White Sox.

McCormick’s rookie season has been a productive one so far, as he has also doubled four times and scored 22 runs. The 26-year-old McCormick has ramped up to big-league pitching, slashing .255/.308/.553/.861 in June. And surprisingly, McCormick is hitting better away from home, piling up a slugging percentage 252 points higher and an OPS 302 points higher on the road.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for June 21, 2021
