NBA DFS: Trae Young and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for May 28, 2021

For the first time since leaving the Celtics for the Nets, Kyrie Irving will return to Boston with fans in the arena on Friday. Even he would admit that his two-year stint with the Celtics was a disappointment, but there have been no such cries from the Brooklyn fans in regards to Irving’s performance. He’s averaging 22 points and six rebounds in this series and looks highly appealing for NBA DFS lineups in tonight’s revenge game. The Nets are loaded with players who make for top NBA DFS picks, but Irving, in particular, has the spotlight on him.

The mercurial point guard carries prices of $8,900 on DraftKings and $8,800 on FanDuel for Friday’s NBA action. He has modest enough value that you could splurge on other players, perhaps even stacking him with Kevin Durant or James Harden for your NBA DFS lineups. Or, your NBA DFS strategy could be to roster Blake Griffin and hope that he can turn back the clock with Jeff Green (foot) out for the series. Before locking in any daily Fantasy basketball lineups for Friday’s NBA DFS action, be sure to see the core lineup selections, player pool and NBA DFS strategy from Mike McClure, a DFS pro who has won almost $2 million.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

And on Thursday, McClure included Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic as one of his top picks. The result: Nurkic posted 13 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to return over 41 points on DraftKings. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Friday, May 28 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Friday, May 28

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Friday is Hawks guard Trae Young at $8,600 on DraftKings and $9,000 on FanDuel. Young has become the latest villain of MSG with back-to-back 30-plus performances on the Knicks‘ home court. He and the Hawks now return to Atlanta where the crowd support will be heavily in their favor as they seek a 2-1 series lead.

During three regular-season games vs. the Knicks, Young was more of a playmaker than a scorer as he averaged 24.7 points and 12.0 assists per game. But he’s taken on more of a scoring responsibility in the postseason with averages of 31 points and 8.5 assists per game. Only two other Hawks are averaging in double-figures this postseason, so Nate McMillan should continue to be reliant on his best player. Comfortably fire up Young for your NBA DFS lineups as he could put on a show for the home fans.

Part of McClure’s NBA DFS strategy for Friday includes rostering Celtics center Robert Williams ($5,200 on DraftKings and $5,400 on FanDuel). Williams had a near triple-double in Game 1 with 11 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks before posting eight points and six rebounds in Game 2.

He played the first two games with a minor turf toe injury but isn’t even listed on the injury report for Game 3 so he is in line for more minutes. With Jaylen Brown (wrist) out, Kemba Walker (knee) questionable and Jayson Tatum playing through an eye injury, look for Boston to rely more on its talented center.

Like most young players, Williams plays better at home as he averaged more points, rebounds, assists and blocks at the TD Garden. Boston needs to change things up to get back into this series and Williams is the player most likely to be their X-factor in Game 3.
