The New England Patriots took a hit in Week 3, as running back James White was carted off the field after suffering a hip injury during their 28-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints. On Monday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that White suffered a hip subluxation, and will be out indefinitely. With this news, a move to IR seems likely.

In the second quarter on Sunday, White was brought down awkwardly after converting a third-and-3. Players from both teams delivered their well-wishes to the veteran as he was loaded onto the cart and driven to the locker room. His one carry for 6 yards was the only touch White recorded on Sunday.

This is not the first hip subluxation we have seen in the NFL this season, as Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a hip subluxation in Week 1. Fitzpatrick was placed on IR, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that he was expected to miss six to eight weeks. The injury was not season ending, and Fitzpatrick even reportedly decided to forgo surgery and rehab himself. We will see what White and his camp decide to do concerning this situation.

In three games, White rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, and caught 12 passes for 94 yards. With him out indefinitely, Brandon Bolden, J.J. Taylor and Rhamondre Stevenson will be asked to step up in helping Damien Harris work out of the backfield. The Patriots are gearing up for a huge matchup this week, as Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to town.
