Raiders’ Darren Waller deemed week to week with knee injury but could still play vs. Washington in Week 13

The Raiders upset the Cowboys on Thanksgiving but lost star tight end Darren Waller in the process. An MRI later revealed that the Pro Bowler suffered a strained IT band in his knee. On Monday, interim coach Rich Bisaccia informed reporters that Waller has been deemed week to week in his recovery, though the team has yet to officially rule out Derek Carr’s top pass target for Sunday’s Week 13 matchup with Washington Football Team.

The Raiders are hoping to get a better look at Waller during practice this week, Bisaccia added, before deciding on his status for the club’s next game. Otherwise, Waller could be looking at a return in Week 14 against the Chiefs, or perhaps later, in Week 15 against the Browns or Week 16 against the Broncos. All of those games figure to have serious playoff implications, with Las Vegas (6-5) currently in a three-way tie behind Kansas City in the AFC West.

Waller has continued to serve as one of the Raiders’ most reliable weapons when healthy, drawing at least five targets in every game this season and posting a season-high 116 receiving yards in Week 11 against the Bengals.

In the event he’s unable to suit up against Washington, Vegas would be set to turn to third-year reserve Foster Moreau at tight end.
