What to Know
The New Orleans Pelicans might have tired legs after a matchup yesterday as they head on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET Oct. 23 at Target Center. If the game is anything like the Pelicans’ 140-136 win from their previous meeting in May, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
The contest between New Orleans and the Chicago Bulls on Friday was not a total blowout, but with New Orleans falling 128-112 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. New Orleans’ defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of small forward Brandon Ingram, who had 26 points and eight assists along with eight boards, and center Jonas Valanciunas, who had 18 points in addition to eight rebounds. Valanciunas’ performance made up for a slower game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Minnesota didn’t have too much trouble with the Houston Rockets at home on Wednesday as they won 124-106. Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns was one of the most active players for the team, posting a double-double on 30 points and ten boards.
New Orleans is expected to lose this next one by 7.5. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn’t have high expectations for them since the squad is 0-2 ATS when expected to lose.
Minnesota’s victory lifted them to 1-0 while New Orleans’ loss dropped them down to 0-2. We’ll see if the Timberwolves can repeat their recent success or if the Pelicans bounce back and reverse their fortune.
