Giants’ Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay out for ‘MNF’ at Chiefs; Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard questionable

The New York Giants‘ offense is still not fully healthy, but at least has a chance to get some playmakers back on the field for the team’s Week 8 game against the Kansas City Chiefs on “Monday Night Football.”

The Giants released their final injury report on Saturday, and the bad news is that Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay remain out. Both were injured during the team’s Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys and have missed each of the team’s last two contests.

The good news is that after Sterling Shepard returned to the fold last week, Kadarius Toney may do the same on Monday. Toney also injured his ankle during the game against the Cowboys. He was able to suit up the next week against the Los Angels Rams, but after catching three passes on the first drive of the game, he aggravated the injury and exited the contest, then sat out in Week 7.

Shepard and Toney are each listed by the Giants as questionable, though the fact that Shepard played last week against Carolina would seem to work in his favor. Toney participated in most of the team’s Friday practice and was moving well, according to ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan, and there is optimism surrounding his status.

Playing against the Chiefs, the Giants can use all the offensive firepower they can get against Kansas City. The Chiefs struggled offensively last week against the Titans but had previously been scoring points in bunches despite turning the ball over on more than 20% of their possessions. New York’s defense has taken a significant step backward this season and seems unlikely to shut down Patrick Mahomes and Co., so getting Toney back into he fold in addition to Shepard would provide the Giants with a key boost.
