MLB DFS: Top Astros vs. Braves DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks for Game 5, 2021 World Series

In Game 4 of the 2021 World Series, Atlanta’s Dansby Swanson and Jorge Soler hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning to wrap up a 3-2 win and take a 3-1 lead in the series. Although Swanson had hits in eight of his last nine playoff games, his homer was just his second in the last eight games. Soler came in as a pinch-hitter after getting just one hit in eight at bats over the previous two games. The Braves look to close things out on Sunday night against Framber Valdez, who had a miserable Game 1 showing, but is he worthy of including in your Braves vs. Astros MLB DFS lineups on sites like FanDuel or DraftKings?

Valdez pitched just two innings last Tuesday and gave up five runs. Soler hit a home run in the first at bat of that game, and then picked up another RBI in the second inning on a fielder’s choice. Should Soler be a building block for your MLB DFS strategy, or should you look elsewhere for value? Before finalizing your Astros vs. Braves Game 5 MLB DFS picks, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

In Game 4 of the World Series, McClure listed Astros second baseman Jose Altuve as one of his core lineup picks for both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Altuve recorded a home run, two hits, two runs scored and one RBI, returning 19 points on DraftKings and 24.9 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with Game 5 of the 2021 World Series set to unfold on Sunday, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Game 5 of the 2021 World Series

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Sunday include Altuve again at $8,000 on FanDuel and $15,300 on DraftKings. Altuve has been seeing the ball extremely well at the place in recent games. In fact, Altuve has two multi-hit games in his last three outings, with two home runs.

Altuve has a history of showing up when the chips are down for the Astros. When Tampa Bay jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the ALCS last season, he responded with a double, a home run and two RBI in a must-win Game 4. In this year’s ALCS against Boston, he popped off with a home run, walk and another hit in Game 4 after Houston went down 2-1 in the series. Altuve is a career .288 hitter in the postseason with a .920 OPS percentage, and needs to step up again in an elimination game on Sunday.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy also includes stacking Altuve with Astros third baseman Alex Bregman ($7,000 on FanDuel and $11,700 on DraftKings). The decision to include Bregman is a play for positive regression, as he only has one hit in four games so far in the World Series. Bregman is looking to return to his form at the end of the ALCS against Boston, when he had four runs, three walks and a home run in the final three games against the Red Sox.

The Braves are slated to start Tucker Davidson on Sunday, a left-handed pitcher that has just four starts in 2021. You have to go all the way back to June 15 to find his last start, which ended early when he left the game after 2.1 innings pitched with forearm tightness. In a June 3 start before that, he had five walks in 5.2 innings pitched against Washington, so Bregman should be in for a slump-buster type of game with a favorable matchup.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for Game 5 of the 2021 World Series

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Sunday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
