PSG: Neymar is out for the next six to eight weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage in the 3-1 win away at AS Saint-Etienne over the weekend. Messi and Leandro Paredes has gastroenteritis symptoms which could rule them out. Sergio Ramos, who debuted last weekend, could make his home bow this midweek.
Nice: Galtier’s squad are relatively injury-free for the moment with only Robson Bambu and Evann Guessand missing. Youcef Atal is back for the trip to Paris.
Storylines
PSG: With five wins from their last six and four consecutive, Les Parisiens are in good form results-wise and currently hold a 12-point lead over Rennes in second. However, slipping into second in UEFA Champions League Group A after losing to Manchester City (catch all the Champions League action on Paramount+) was a bit of a blemish while the team remains locked in an unattractive style of play which makes them vulnerable in every game.
Nice: With three wins from their last six but two losses from their last three, Galtier’s side are showing the sort of inconsistencies you come to expect from a squad given a summer facelift to turn them into title challengers. Although that push will seemingly have to wait until at least next campaign, the Frenchman is turning this team into a formidable force already.
Prediction
The hosts should be able to take these points and Neymar’s absence gives Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe a chance to gel in attack. However, Amine Gouiri and Andy Delort have the quality in attack to punish the Parisien defense with a combined 15 league goals.
