NBA DFS: Tyler Herro and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Dec. 8, 2021

The NBA schedule offers a full slate of games on Wednesday, but many of its teams are playing with decidedly incomplete rosters. Several teams are feeling the pinch with multiple players out due to injury or health and safety protocols, but that sometimes leads to hidden value in the NBA DFS player pool. Cody Martin and James Bouknight are the only remaining guards on Charlotte’s roster after Ish Smith was added to the team’s health and protocol reserve list on Monday.

Martin has averaged 16.5 points and four assists over his last two games — essentially double what his numbers were for both through his first 22 games this season. Is he a viable option in NBA DFS lineups again on Wednesday when Charlotte hosts Philadelphia? Before finalizing your NBA DFS picks for Wednesday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Tuesday, McClure listed Boston forward Jayson Tatum as one of his core NBA DFS picks on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Tatum scored 34 points with eight rebounds and three assists, which returned 52.5 points on DraftKings and 49.1 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Wednesday, December 8 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Wednesday, December 8

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Wednesday includes Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro ($7,000 on DraftKings and $6,800 on FanDuel). With Jimmy Butler (tailbone) still out, Herro continues to see an increase in scoring opportunities while on the floor. After two inefficient starts against the Pacers and Bucks, he came off the bench on Monday against Memphis and scored 24 points while shooting 57.9 percent from the field.

He gets another swing at Milwaukee on Wednesday, and will want to come away with a better showing that he had last time out against the Bucks. On Saturday, he hit just 23 percent of his shots for an ugly 15 points, but he did come away with nine rebounds. In Miami’s season opener, he fared much better against the defending champs, with 27 points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu ($3,900 on DraftKings and $4,800 on FanDuel). Dosunmu has been thrust into a significant role with the Bulls, as Alex Caruso is hampered by a hamstring injury and numerous others are out due to health and safety protocols, including DeMar DeRozan.

The rookie has scored 11 points in each of his last two games, and was on the floor for nearly 42 minutes in Chicago’s game on Monday against Denver. Against the Nuggets, he also had eight assists and six rebounds. Chicago’s Wednesday opponent, the Cleveland Cavaliers, is a tough matchup, but Chicago has scored nearly 110 points per game, and Dosunmu offers a discounted piece of that offense to daily Fantasy players.
