What to Know
The Georgetown Hoyas and the Syracuse Orange are even-steven against one another since December of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. Georgetown will play host again and welcome the Orange to Capital One Arena, where tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday. Georgetown is out to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
The Hoyas took their contest against the Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers on Wednesday by a conclusive 100-71 score. Georgetown got double-digit scores from four players: guard Kaiden Rice (34), center Ryan Mutombo (15), guard Dante Harris (13), and guard Aminu Mohammed (13). Rice hadn’t helped his team much against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Kaiden Rice’s points were the most he has had all season.
Meanwhile, ‘Cuse received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 67-53 to the Villanova Wildcats. Guard Buddy Boeheim wasn’t much of a difference maker for ‘Cuse; Boeheim played for 38 minutes but put up just six points on 3-for-15 shooting.
Georgetown’s victory lifted them to 4-4 while Syracuse’s loss dropped them down to 5-4. In their win, the Hoyas relied heavily on Rice, who shot 10-for-12 from beyond the arc and finished with 34 points. the Orange will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
