Kentucky landed one of the top offensive linemen in the country on Wednesday, when Kiyaunta Goodwin announced his commitment to the Wildcats live on CBS Sports HQ. Goodwin is ranked the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2022 Class by 247Sports and considered the No. 13 overall player in the nation.

Goodwin was supposed to announce his commitment in a ceremony earlier on Wednesday, but said during the event that he was still deciding between Michigan State and Kentucky. Given a few more hours, though, it was the Wildcats that prevailed in his recruitment.

“There’s been days and nights where it’s back and forth with both schools,” Goodwin said. “Kentucky, I had a chance to talk with coach [Mark] Stoops. And I had a chance to talk with coach Mel Tucker before I made the decision. I wasn’t ready this morning, but I was ready now.”

At 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds, Goodwin projects as a future second-round draft pick, according to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu. Here is the full scouting report on Goodwin from Trieu:

Physical specimen who has done a fantastic job re-shaping his body. At that same time, he has worked on explosiveness and that training has gotten him moving very well at his size. Plays with physicality and intensity. Finishes his blocks. Coordinated enough on his feet to drive defenders and stay balanced. Shows he can get out of his stance quickly in pass pro. Still refining technique with his hands and punch but has all of the qualities to be a true blindside protector at the next level. Has tremendous upside and has shown the work ethic to reach his ceiling. Has the potential to be a franchise type of left tackle.
