What to Know
The Sacramento Kings will be returning home after a three-game road trip. They will take on the Washington Wizards at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday at Golden 1 Center. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
A win for the Kings just wasn’t in the stars on Monday as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. Things couldn’t have gone much worse for them as they lost 124-101 to the Toronto Raptors. Sacramento was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 70-45. Point guard De’Aaron Fox put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 29 points.
Meanwhile, Washington was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Monday as they fell 113-107 to the Denver Nuggets. The Wizards were down 91-70 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Their defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of small forward Davis Bertans, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and finished with 21 points and five rebounds, and point guard Aaron Holiday, who had 18 points in addition to six boards. Holiday’s performance made up for a slower game against the Utah Jazz this past Saturday. Holiday’s points were the most he has had all year.
Barring any buzzer beaters, the Kings are expected to win a tight contest. Now might not be the best time to take Sacramento against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.
Sacramento ended up a good deal behind Washington when they played when the two teams previously met in April, losing 123-111. Can Sacramento avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
