One surprise: Yu isn’t high on Simplification, even though he is one of the 2022 Preakness Stakes favorites. Simplification drew the No. 1 post for the Preakness Stakes, so he’ll be fighting for positioning when the horses break from the starting gate.
In addition, Simplification has won just one of his last four races and is coming off a fourth-place showing at the Kentucky Derby. Simplification has now finished third or worse in four of his eight races. “Simplification ran a respectable fourth in the Derby, but I don’t think he’s winning the Preakness,” Yu told SportsLine.
