Tyson Fury vs. Derek Chisora III prediction, odds: Boxing expert makes picks, best bets for Dec. 3, 2022 fight

Tyson Fury defends the WBC heavyweight title for the third time Saturday against familiar foe and veteran contender Derek Chisora in a 12-round boxing main event. Their showdown tops the main Fury vs. Chisora fight card (1 p.m. ET) from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The combatants have met twice before, in 2011 and 2014, with Fury winning a decision in the first and a stoppage in the rematch. However, failed negotiations for numerous other opponents fell through and Chisora stepped up to accept the second major title fight of his career. In 2012, he lost a decision to Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title.

Fury is the -2000 favorite (risk $2,000 to win $100), while Chisora is priced at +1000 (risk $100 to win $1,000) in the latest Fury vs. Chisora III odds from Caesars Sportsbook. The over/under for total rounds completed is 6.5, with the Over favored at -135 and the Under priced at +115. Tyson Fury vs. Derek Chisora III preview

This week marks the seven-year anniversary of Fury’s decision win over Wladimir Klitschko that made Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) the heavyweight champion for the first time. He took three major belts from Klitschko in a decisive but lackluster performance over the fading former champion.

Fury reflected this week on how far he has come since that landmark victory. While he was once admittedly a cautious warrior who used his height and reach advantages to score points and limit exposure, fans were slow to warm up to his risk-averse style.

That all changed when his first fight with Deontay Wilder in December 2018 ended in a split draw that saw Fury hit the canvas twice. He realized he needed to adopt a more aggressive approach, and the addition of trainer SugarHill Steward played a big role in Fury stopping Wilder in their second and third matches.

Both the fighter and the trainer told the media this week that Fury continues to evolve as a boxer and observers will notice the improvements Saturday.

“Each time you see him go out there, we see something different. The last fight was spectacular, but I believe this fight he will do something even more spectacular,” Steward said.

Although Chisora’s recent record shows three losses in his last four outings, his performances in those fights suggested that of a veteran contender who still has something left as opposed to a fading also-ran who took the fights merely to collect a paycheck.

In October 2020 he went to the wire against Oleksandr Usyk, who now holds three major belts and is widely considered the most well-rounded heavyweight on the planet, apart from Fury. Usyk won a unanimous decision, but the scores were 115-113 (seven rounds to five) on two cards, with the other coming in at 117-112.

Chisora’s next two fights came against Joseph Parker, the former WBO champion who started his career with a 24-0 record before losing to Anthony Joshua in March 2018. Chisora (33-12, 23 KOs lost a disputed split decision to Parker in May 2021 and a subsequent rematch in December of that year went to Parker in a close but unanimous decision.

Chisora also looked strong for all 12 rounds in his July fight against Kubrat Pulev, and he pulled out a split-decision victory. Pulev had won nine of his previous 10 fights. See who Kahn is backing right here.
