The #1 Purdue Boilermakers will square off against the NC State Wolfpack at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday at Barclays Center. NC State will be strutting in after a win while the Boilermakers will be stumbling in from a loss.
Purdue lost 70-68 to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Thursday on a last-minute half-court bomb from RU’s guard Ron Harper Jr. with 0:01 remaining. Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the matchup between NC State and the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Thursday was still a pretty decisive one as the Wolfpack wrapped it up with a 65-48 victory at home. Guard Dereon Seabron and forward Jericole Hellems were among the main playmakers for NC State as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds and the latter had 13 points.
The Boilermakers are now 8-1 while NC State sits at 7-2. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Purdue is stumbling into the contest with the 34th fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only 11.2 on average. To make matters even worse for Purdue, the Wolfpack come into the game boasting the 24th fewest turnovers per game in college basketball at 10.3.
